A common misconception is that brand-new construction homes are automatically clean. In reality, newly built homes are often the most in need of thorough cleaning before occupancy. Construction work leaves behind drywall dust (which is extremely fine and pervasive), sawdust, paint overspray, caulk residue, adhesive stickers on appliances and windows, concrete and grout haze, and general construction debris. Even after the builder's own cleaning crew does a final pass, experienced homebuyers frequently find significant residue left behind in less-visible areas.

Common Issues in New NC Triangle Builds

In the NC Triangle's active construction market — Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Wendell Falls, Chatham Park, and new phases of established communities — new construction cleaning often reveals: drywall compound residue on bathroom fixtures, caulk smears on windows and tile, manufacturer stickers on all appliances and glass surfaces (tedious to remove properly), sawdust in HVAC registers and ductwork, paint on door hinges, and a general film of construction dust on every surface. These issues are normal and expected — they don't indicate poor construction, just the reality of building a home.

What New Construction Cleaning Includes

A professional new construction cleaning covers: removing all stickers and labels from appliances, windows, and fixtures; cleaning all windows inside and out; wiping down all cabinets and drawer interiors; cleaning inside all appliances (often first use); cleaning all bathrooms including grout haze removal; vacuuming and mopping all floors; cleaning HVAC vents; wiping baseboards and door frames; and cleaning all light fixtures, ceiling fans, and hardware. This is more thorough than standard move-in cleaning.
